Mental health and wellbeing remain critical issues both nationally and within our local communities. In response, Black Achievers, in partnership with Black Health Initiative (BHI), is proud to host an Intergenerational Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference, bringing together children, young people, adults, families, and community members for a day of learning, dialogue, and celebration.
This conference aims to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for people from multi-ethnic and multi-cultural communities, particularly those living in disadvantaged areas, to explore mental health, challenge stigma, and strengthen wellbeing across generations.
About the Conference
The event will focus on understanding the root causes of mental health challenges, the impact of stigma, and the environmental and social pressures affecting children, young adults, and families today. Through interactive workshops, expert speakers, and open discussions, participants will be encouraged to share experiences, exchange ideas, and engage in meaningful conversations that are often considered taboo.
A key theme of the day is healing, growth, and resilience, inspired by the Japanese concept of Kintsugi — the art of repairing broken pottery with gold. This philosophy teaches us that brokenness is not something to hide, but something that can make us more unique, resilient, and beautiful. In this spirit, the conference will explore ways individuals and communities can heal, rebuild, and thrive.
