June 2026 marked a proud milestone for Black Achievers Wings Award (BAWA) as the organisation received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Stephen Holroyd, in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the residents and communities of Leeds.
The award was presented during The Lord Mayor’s Civic Celebration for Small Charities and Community Groups in Leeds 2026, an event organised by Leeds City Council and Voluntary Action Leeds to recognise local organisations whose dedication and hard work continue to create positive change across the city.
Recognition for Community Impact
The Certificate of Appreciation acknowledges the significant contribution that Black Achievers Wings Award has made in supporting individuals, families, and communities throughout Leeds. Held at Leeds Civic Hall on 25 June 2026, the Lord Mayor’s Civic Celebration was created as an opportunity to thank small charities and community groups that make a meaningful difference in the lives of local residents. The event provided organisations with the opportunity to receive formal recognition from the Lord Mayor and celebrate their achievements with fellow community leaders and volunteers.
